1. Short title and application.
These rules shall be applicable for recruitment to the posts specified in Schedule-I of the Gujarat Panchayat Service Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1998.
2. Definitions -
In these rules, except without the need of reference,
(a) "Act" means the Gujarat Panchayat Act, 1993;
(b) "connection" means a connection referred to in these rules;
(c) "Board" means the Gujarat Panchayat Service Selection Board constituted under section 355 of the Act;
(d) “candidate” means a person who fulfills the eligibility criteria specified in the Recruitment Rules of the post concerned;
(i) “Development Commissioner” means the Office of the Development Commissioner, Gujarat State;
(f) "examination" means the examination prescribed under these rules;
(g) "Government" means the Government of Gujarat;
(a) "Panchayat Service" means the Panchayat Service constituted under section 227 of the Act.
3. Educational Qualification and Age Limit.-
Candidates who possess the essential educational qualifications, other qualifications and requirements for appointment to the posts mentioned in Appendix A and Appendix B annexed to these rules, as prescribed under the respective Recruitment Rules, shall be eligible for admission to the examination .
Advertisement of Vacancies and Invitation for Application - The Board receiving demand from the Development Commissioner through Panchayat, Rural Housing and Rural Development Department will make practical announcement of vacancies on the website(s). Fill up with detailed instructions and invite online applications of interested candidates. However, the Board will also publish short advertisements in leading newspapers widely circulated in the state for the information of interested candidates.
Exam Scheme
The Board will conduct the examination for the purpose of selection of candidates for recruitment to the posts specified in Schedule-I of the Service Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1998 of Gujarat Panchayats.

9. Application form and fee for the exam.
(1) The candidate shall pay the application fee and examination fee, if any, as prescribed by the Government from time to time.
(2) Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes or Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (including Nomadic Tribes and Notified Tribes) or Economically Weaker Sections or candidates who are physically handicapped or Ex-Servicemen shall be paid the application fee and examination fee, if if any, will be exempted from paying in accordance with the prescribed rules or orders issued by the Government on its behalf.
(i) Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (including Nomadic Tribes and Proposed Tribes) or Economically Weaker Sections or Physically Handicapped or Ex-Servicemen will have to produce necessary evidence. 10. DATE, PLACE AND TIME OF EXAMINATION - The examination shall be held at such places as may be decided by the Board. The board will decide the date, venue and time of the examination and inform the candidate about the same.

12. Prohibition of examination.
(1) A blind candidate shall be permitted to write in the examination with the help of a qualified writer the instructions issued by the Board from time to time.

14. Announcement and publication of final selection list and recommendation list and waiting list.

If the candidate does not select or select the district and/or post in the respective category in the calculation of his/her quality in the available districts and/or posts, he/she will be considered.
